The Rolex GMT was originally designed in partnership with Pan American Airways and given to crew on the trans-atlantic flights. GMT stands for Greenwich Mean Time and the watch was noteworthy at the time as it enabled flight crews to understand different time zones with ease. The current 116710 GMT Master II watches were introduced in 2007 incorporating a number of modifications from its predecessor, the 16710. These included the Parachrom hairspring, for improved accuracy, a more robust bracelet and clasp. Most notable was the introduction of the fade and scratch resistant ceramic bezel.
This Rolex GMT Master II has the well regarded bicolour blue and black ceramic bezel. This watch is in Mint condition and is still retains the Rolex manufacturer seals on the cae back and inner folding clasp. It is supplied with the original boxes, both swing tags, instruction book and Rolex warranty card. Originally purchased from the Watches of Switzerland boutique based at Heathrow Airport in October 2015. Remains under Rolex new superlative warranty until October 2020.
